US Ag Sec'y: Immigration Reform Will Keep Food Prices "Moderate"
America's Agriculture Secretary said migrants, who work for a "reasonable wage", are necessary to keep food prices down.
John Bry,
WOOD Radio News Team
America's Agriculture Secretary visited farmers near Sparta Monday afternoon on a tour with U. S. Senator Debbie Stabenow. As part of his remarks, Secretary Tom Vilsack said that the Obama Administration's immigration reform is necessary for keeping the price of food affordable.
Vilsack told WOOD TV8 that food prices are "moderate" today because of what he called the "reasonable" wages that migrants would work for. He said farm wages would need to be three- or four times higher to get Americans to do those jobs.

While the argument can be made that food prices are lower with illegal workers the overall cost is higher to those of us who pay taxes, food stamps, medical care, schools, housing, etc, etc, the taxpayer simply subsidizes the farmers and companies hiring illegal workers.
When a government employee tells you he/she is there to help or lower prices grab your billfold because you will be robbed.I'm old with many opinions few solutions.
