Nicaraguan gets 3 yrs prison for registering to vote Mexico

El Porvenir (Monterrey, Nuevo Leon) 7/13/08

A Mexico City Court sentenced Carlos Mayorga Vallejos, a Nicaraguan, to three years imprisonment because Mayorga had obtained a Mexican voter’s registration card under false pretenses. He had used a false Mexican driver’s license to get the voter’s card. He was also fined a total of 70 days’ minimum salary for the false driver’s license.

Why the hell aren't we doing the same thing?!?!?!

I's sure the Nicaraguan was just trying to make a better life for himself by working hard and needed "papers", how can the mexican government be so CRUEL and INHUMANE by jailing him and fining him all that money? What about his poor, poor hungry family and village who depend on the money he sends home to them? Why aren't the dual citizen elected officials in mexico DEMANDING that he has rights and should be collecting welfare instead of jailed? Where is laraza demanding that mexico stop the hate? Morones, where are you? Why aren't you fighting for this poor hard working immigrant?????

It is a felony to vote without being a citizen here. I don't know if they are enforcing it by prosecuting. Maybe this is another action we need to look into and champion.
