Nine undocumented immigrants detained in Casa Grande neighborhood

CASA GRANDE, AZ - Pinal County sheriff’s deputies detained nine people suspected of being in the country illegally Monday, officials said.

At around 7 a.m., a sheriff’s deputy was traveling southbound near Highway 287 when he saw a Dodge Durango violating several traffic laws.The deputy began following the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, authorities said.

The deputy then witnessed 8-12 passengers in the car run into a neighborhood near Casa Grande, authorities said.

Deputies spent several hours rounding up the people, who admitted to being in the country illegally, officials said. The suspects were handed over to U.S. Border Patrol, sheriff’s officials said.

The Dodge Durango is reportedly registered to a Tempe man. The man’s wife told authorities the truck actually belongs to the man’s cousin, Eloy Fabricio Inzunza Moreno, and that Moreno is a “coyoteâ€
