Landlord asks judge to dismiss racketeering suitSeptember 26, 2008
TRENTON, N.J. - A management company with properties in New Jersey and Pennsylvania is asking a judge to throw out a lawsuit brought against it by a national immigration reform group.

Plainfield-based Connolly Properties was sued in June by the legal arm of the Federation for American Immigration Reform. The group says Connolly rents so many apartments to illegal immigrants that it constitutes illegal harboring under New Jersey's racketeering laws.

Connolly's attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit earlier this week.

The Puerto Rican Legal Defense Fund has signed on to try and block the case from setting legal precedent, and to help tenants.
