A Miami Lakes woman is accused of impersonating a federal agent to scam seven people out of nearly eight thousand dollars.

Over the course of the last six months, investigators said 46-year-old Xenia Delgado convinced seven people that she represented the immigration office and they needed to pay her to prepare and file certain immigration documents on their behalf. In return for filing the documentation Delgado allegedly charged them anywhere from $400 to $1500.

Delgado's scheme unraveled on March 25th when she was involved in a hit and run accident. When police looked in Delgado's vehicle they found a green messenger bag with immigration documents with her victim's names on them. When police contacted them, they said Delgado was a federal agent and that they paid her to file the documents.

Delgado turned herself into police on March 29th.

During questioning she reportedly admitted to receiving money in exchange for filing the immigration documents, but denied telling anyone she was a federal immigration agent.

Delgado is charged with seven counts each of grand theft and impersonating a law enforcement officer in the commission of a felony; she's also charged with a single count of 'organized scheme to defraud'.
