GALLUP, N.M. (AP) - Officers from the state Department of Public Safety made two drug busts that resulted after Gallup-area traffic stops.

The drugs were seized Thursday with an estimated street value of more than $3.5 million.

The first occurred when a Motor Transportation Division officer stopped a tractor-trailer. An inspection showed the number of pallets on the truck exceeded what was permitted, and the officer found an extra pallet contained 157 pounds of cocaine.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody.

Minutes later, a state police officer stopped a pickup truck and found 19 pounds of crystal methamphetamines. The driver was taken into custody.
