Cops: Flemington woman used forged credentials, may be deported to Mexico

FLEMINGTON -- A woman charged with using forged credentials is in the county jail and could be deported to Mexico, according to borough police.

A California man was told by the IRS that he couldn’t file for bankruptcy because someone was using his Social Security number while working at the Flemington McDonald’s. An investigation resulted in the arrest Monday of Elba Cruz, 31, of Main Street, Flemington, by Detective Michael Mariaschin.

He said she was also using a resident alien number that belongs to an elderly woman in Texas. He did not fault McDonald’s management for failing to see that her documents had been forged.

Cruz was charged with two counts of using the personal identity of another person, two counts of impersonation of another person and one count of falsifying government records.

Her bail was set at $30,000 and her case has been referred to federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement for possible deportation.

YES, YOU ARE RIGHT BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER WHICH STATE IT WAS BUT, I'M GOING TO SAY THAT IT WAS A JUDGE IN COLORADO.
