An illness at a central Arizona detention center housing people facing immigration enforcement actions has now sickened more than 300 people.
Officials with the Pinal County public health department said Friday that lab tests have identified norovirus as the cause. They say men and women at the Eloy Detention Center have been vomiting and having diarrhea for about two days.

The detention center closed its kitchen and is getting food from the nearby Saguaro Correctional Center. Officials are disinfecting the facility and urging detainees to practice good hygiene.

The lockup exclusively holds men and women awaiting action in immigration courts.

Norovirus is common in institutional settings like schools and cruise ships
