Now Look Whose Taking American Jobs
Now Look Whose Taking American Jobs
January 30, 2011
by Red Kingman
Just when I'm being told that the "back of the recession has been broken" by my President during His state of the union speech, and that I have " a few extra dollars in my pocket", I find out that scores of immigrants are taking jobs away from me.
From Jerome Coursi's Redalert.wnd.com comes the story titled 1 million immigrants take U.S. jobs.
"In the past two years, as unemployment remained near 10 percent, more than 1 million immigrants, of whom 35 percent were undocumented or illegal, have gotten jobs in the United States.
The basic story is that in the past two years, U.S. employers have chosen to go for cheap immigrant help, while the economy as a whole has shed millions of jobs for U.S. workers.
At the same time, providing social services is costing cash-strapped states billions of dollars to pay for a wide range of services many states can no longer afford, including welfare payments, health services and education of children, with classes often provided in Spanish.
The Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that the cost of illegal immigration to the states stands at about $113 billion, with nearly half that amount going to education costs.
1 million immigrants land jobs in U.S. since 2008
That over one million immigrants have found employment in the U.S. since 2008 was the conclusion of a review of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Census Bureau data conducted exclusively for Reuters by researchers at the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University in Boston.
"Employers have chosen to use new immigrants over native-born workers and have continued to displace large numbers of blue-collar workers and young adults without college degrees," concluded Andrew Sum, director of the Center for Labor Market Studies.
"One of the advantages of hiring, particularly young, undocumented immigrants, is the fact that employers do not have to pay health benefits or basic payroll taxes," Sum told Reuters.
The study concluded that from 2008 to 2010, approximately 1.1 million new migrants who have entered the United States have obtained jobs, while U.S. household employment declined overall by 6.26 million during that same period of time.
The Reuters-commissioned study found immigrants were acquiring employment in traditional low-wage work associated with foreign, undocumented and especially Mexican labor: hotels and food services, retail trade, sanitation, cleaning and construction.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for all Americans without a high-school diploma in the age group under 30 is about 27 percent to 29 percent, at or near Depression areas, while unemployment in sectors such as construction is almost 21 percent.
Illegals intensify state-budget crisis
Last week, Michael Antonovich, the Los Angeles County supervisor, released new statistics showing welfare costs for the children of illegal immigrants cost the county $600 million last year, up from $570 million in 2009, as reported by Fox News.
Going beyond the cost of food stamps and welfare-style benefits through the state program CalWORKS to include the costs of public safety and health care, the total cost for illegal immigrants to Los Angeles taxpayers for 2010 was more than $1.6 billion, not including education costs.
"The problem is illegal immigration," Antonovich spokesman Tony Bell told Fox News. "Their parents evidently immigrated here in order to get on social services. We can no longer afford to be HMO to the world."
The Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that the illegal immigrants cost California $21.8 billion a year, for all social welfare services, public safety and health costs, as well as education costs.
California is estimated to have a $25 billion budget shortfall in 2011.
California opens state universities to illegals
In November, California's Supreme Court ruled unanimously that illegal aliens can continue attending California colleges at the cheaper in-state tuition rates, a move that threatens to expand California's already severe budget crisis.
Right now, about 25,000 illegals are estimated to receive in-state tuition rates in California.
Last week, the California Department of Education released data indicating that for the first time Latinos now make up the majority of California's public school students, cracking the 50 percent barrier for the first time in state history, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Even though the California Department of Education did not sort out the data to indicate what percentage of the Latinos were illegal immigrants, the report suggests the California Supreme Court decision could be costly to California taxpayers having to subsidize illegal immigrants at colleges and universities in the state.
The U.S. Supreme Court has yet to decide if allowing illegal immigrants the lower, in-state tuition rate for college and universities violates federal law."

It appears that we not only have to worry about the illegal immigrants, but the legal ones as well! Is this what it means to be a part of the "global community?

I know in Florida especially in South Florida our biggest problem are people who overstayed visas. Many of them were here under temorary protected status and while legal they were able to obtain good paying jobs as most of them were educated. They are still here doing those jobs years later. Then add the illegals who are allowed to attend Miami Dade College and when they graduate they get good jobs that Americans would gladly do as well. I have Colombians who overstayed a visa who live in my condo building. He was a book keeper and income tax preparer who has a business!

So many criminal and fraud crimes occurring in this Country it is going to be one difficult task for all Law Enforcements persons to combat. Corrupted employers should be the first (FOCUS) because they are the main reason so many illegal aliens are flocking to the the U.S.
Creating jobs will not correct the problems this Country has, because almost every job comes available immigrants are employed, instead of citizens. So, the best way to eliminate this issue is to cease corrupt employers, and this Country will soon become stable. Immigrants will go back to their homeland, once they cannot seek employments. When you aid and support criminals, you live a criminal life style yourself:

There is an article in the Sun Sentinel about fewer people moving to Florida. You should see the comments. Many bring up illegals and Florida becoming a banana republic.

Another reason why no AMERICANS are moving to Florida is because of the influx of immigrants, both legal and illegal. Why would any American move to this sprawling Tower of Babel complete with all manner of immigrant who is hell-bent on bringing the Banana Republic way of life to the Sunshine State?
Think about it. If you're retired, are you going to spend your golden years in the equivalent of 3rd world country?
If you're raising a family, do you really want to send your kids to some of these schools and raise them in this atmosphere?
If you're a recent college grad, you can't afford the place.
Not too worry though, the state has been hijacked by ethnic grievance lobbies. Our elected officials, including the new Gov, don't have the guts to crack down on the immigration problems that have besieged this state. How do they expect to attract high tech and good paying jobs in an area replete with non-English speaking FIU grads?
Good luck to them in their endeavor to transform the place from sanctuary haven for illegals to high-tech jobs magnet. LOL

"dramatic decline in the number of Americans moving to Florida"
The key word is "AMERICANS". Hardly anyone left in Dade or Broward is American. Official statistics say that 17% of Broward is Hispanic, but just go out anywhere in public and it's obvious that the number is much higher. Makes you wonder how many are uncounted because they're here illegally.

Why would anyone want to move here anymore? Thanks to our federal officials and their liberal immigration policies opening the floodgates, you no longer feel like your living in America any longer. This is why the moving companies report they are moving more people out of the state than moving in.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
