DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Protesters are pleading with the immigration service not to deport three of their friends who grew up in Florida.

The group protested outside the Immigration Detention Center in Deerfield Beach where 19-year-old Sarjina Emy and her two brothers, Shamsul Sana and Mahbubul Rumi are being held.

Their parents have already been sent back to Bangladesh for illegally entering the country 15 years ago, but Sarjina and her brothers are fighting their deportation orders. "It's a whole generation of children that have no choice in coming here, that were brought here by their parents, and now that they have made this their home, they are being kicked out," said Subhash Kateel.

The protesters say something should be done to protect the children of illegal immigrants who only know the United States as home.

Used to be kids wanted to be with their parents. It is not our problem to take care of these people, it is the parents responsibility. Deport them.

    A familiar story

Don't we hear this one often? "It's not the kids fault. They shouldn't be punished for what their parents did".

First off, they aren't being punished. They are being subjected to the rule of law. If Americans who have children break the law, are they absolved? Do they get to skip jail just because they have kids? Hell no! Chances are the kids are placed in foster care. Is that punishing the kids then? No, it's an unfortunate consequence when parents break the law.

It's all about personal responsibility. These illegals put their own convenience above the law. They knew the risks, they gambled, they lost. They knew it could happen, so pay the piper.

Anything short of deporting them is giving them better treatment than what citizens receive.
