NYDNLuis Martinez, 12, is seen here with his sister, Angie Ortiz, taken on Christmas eve 2009. The Brooklyn boy was reportedly stabbed in Queens and left for dead.
Brooklyn schoolboy is fighting for his life after he was stabbed repeatedly in the face, neck and torso and left for dead in Queens last night, relatives said.

Luis Martinez, 12, was rushed to Jamaica Medical Center around 9:30 p.m. Saturday after cops discovered the horrifically injured youngster on the Jackie Robinson Parkway, near Highland Park.

Martinez's sister, Angie Ortiz, 28, of Jersey City, N.J., said her brother had a punctured lung and kidney.

He had been slashed across both cheeks and doctors told her he will need reconstructive facial surgery. "He lost a lot of blood. They hit a vein in his neck" she told the Daily News outside the hospital last night.

"He's going to be in there a while. We're hoping he'll make it through, but it's serious. He's critical," she said.

A cousin named Monica said the family feared gang members may have attacked Martinez.

"The marks that he had are signs of gang initiation," she added.

Relatives said Martinez had left the family's East New York home earlier in the evening with a friend to go to the store and then did not return.

Several hours later, cops called to say they had found Martinez critically wounded miles away.

"We still don't know how he got there," Ortiz said. "And the clothing he was wearing wasn't what he was brought to the hospital in. He was found in some kind of black sweater."

Martinez's sister added that their mother was "devastated" and would remain at his bedside.

Doctors told them he will be moved to Manhattan's Columbia Presbyterian Hospital once initial surgery was completed.

His cousin added that the youngster had not been in trouble before. "He's a good kid, you know, he does what all the kids do," Monica said.
