Dozens Rally for Immigration Reform in Center City

by KYW's Pat Loeb

Dozens of people rallied outside City Hall Monday, calling for immigration reform.

"We want to hear noise..."

The rally was a send off for a delegation of Philadelphians heading to Washington to lobby for immigration reform:

"We want to say that immigrants are here to stay. they have rights and they will stand up for their rights."

Zac Steele is part of a coalition of groups that make up "Reform Immigration for America," which is organizing the Washington effort.

Dennis Hickie is among those going. He's representing Irish American Clubs of the Delaware Valley:

"There's a lot of undocumented people in Upper Darby, Delaware County and Philadelphia and these people are living in fear and the system has to be reformed."

The group would like currently undocumented immigrants to be granted a path to citizenship but that's been controversial because of fears it would lead to more illegal immigration.
