Obama to employers: Keep illegals on payroll!

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama stumped for the illegal alien vote in El Paso, Texas, last week.

In a stirring campaign speech at the Mexican border before a mob of open-border activists, candidate Obama said the fence was "complete" and the border "controlled" and that now his racist critics should join him and all right-thinking Americans to grant amnesty to illegals in time to create 11 million new Democrat voters for the 2012 election.

While the lapdog Obama media faithfully reported Obama's fantasies, those of us who live at the border laughed out loud.

The border fence is not complete.

In 2006, Congress authorized and funded a 700-mile double fence along the border to block the most used smuggling routes into the U.S. To date, 39.3 miles have been built, just four more miles than when Obama took office more than two years ago.

The border is not controlled.

Border Patrol apprehension stats show a 58 percent reduction since 2008 in illegals caught trying to sneak across the border. The same stats show that, even so, nearly 500,000 illegals were still caught trying to sneak across the border in 2010. With the Border Patrol admitting it may catch only half the illegals, this means that more than a million people each year still illegally cross this "controlled" border.

But the biggest whopper of them all was the candidate's boast that he was "going after employers who knowingly exploit," that is hire, illegal workers.

Nonsense. Obama has blocked mandatory E-Verify in Congress. This program would have required employers to verify that the names and Social Security numbers of job applicants match.

Currently, E-Verify is a voluntary program that allows employers to check whether applicants for jobs are presenting Social Security numbers that match their names in the Social Security database.

Only 250,000 American employers now use voluntary E-Verify to ensure that the people they hire are legally entitled to work in the United States.

If U.S. citizens have to wait 10 days for a mandatory federal approval to purchase a gun but illegals can get jobs without any mandatory check on their right to hold a job in this country, who is being "exploited"?

In fact, Obama has protected illegals being "exploited" (hired) in the U.S.

All employers get the annual Form-W2 for their existing employees screened through the Social Security database. If the names and SS numbers don't match, a "no match" letter is issued to the employer by the Social Security Administration.

The letter asks for "corrected information" and prompts the employer to check for misspellings in the employee information, or failure to report a name change following a marriage or divorce, or whether the W2 itself was filled out incorrectly.

Only after assuming a clerical error does the letter acknowledge the possibility that the "Social Security number reported is false, or the number was assigned to someone else."

Duh. Last year, more than nine million "no match" instances were detected by the SS computers, almost all of them illegals using fake or stolen SS numbers.

But then the "no match" letter forbids the employer from taking any action to deprive the illegal of the job.

The letter admonishes the employer, "You should not use this letter alone to take any action against an employee, such as laying off, suspending, firing, or discriminating against that individual just because his or her Social Security number appears on the (no match) list. Doing so could, in fact, violate state or federal law and subject you to legal consequences."

The no-match letter threatens legal action against an employer not for "exploiting" illegals by hiring them as candidate Obama asserted, but for "discrimination" if they are fired.

An attachment to the no-match letter, titled "How To Correct Social Security Numbers," contains instructions on how employers can correct the no-match and avoid jeopardizing "your employee's future benefits" and thereby avoid "liability under the immigration laws."

Candidate Obama told the cheering crowd in El Paso that "businesses have to be held accountable if they exploit undocumented workers."

But President Obama has put it in writing to every employer in America – keep the illegals on the payroll. You'll be sued for discrimination if you fire an illegal with a fake or stolen SS number.

Do these protected illegal employees count as jobs saved in the Obama "saved or created" recovery?
