22 arrested in Vista prostitution sting

Sheriff's officials announced today the arrest of 22 women in Vista on suspicion of prostitution and other charges following a months' long investigation.

The women, most of them Chinese citizens, were taken into custody at nine businesses licensed as day spas and acupuncture centers, authorities said.

Earlier this year, the sheriff's department received complaints about prostitution at several establishments. That was coupled with a spike in applications for business licenses for day spas, acupuncture centers and in licenses for massage therapists.

Undercover deputies went to nine establishments to gather evidence and the women were taken into custody Tuesday, authorities said. Federal officials joined the investigation to determine the women's immigration status.

San Diego TV 51 10:00 p.m. news said that I.C.E. has already determined that at least some of the woman are illegal aliens from China and may have been working to pay off their smuggling fees.

VISTA, Calif. -- Twenty-two women have been arrested following an undercover investigation into suspected prostitution at day spas and acupuncture clinics in Vista in San Diego County.

Sheriff's officials say the women, most of them Chinese nationals, were booked Wednesday for investigation of prostitution, illegal touching and municipal code violations.

Officials say the investigation began when Vista city officials noticed an "abnormally high number" of business licenses being sought for acupuncture and day spa establishments.

Officials say immigration checks determined that some of the women are in the country illegally.

(16) Comments Increase Font Decrease Font email this story print this story VISTA ---- Authorities shut down nine businesses and arrested 22 women during an undercover prostitution sting Wednesday afternoon in Vista, officials said.

The operation targeted Asian day spas and acupuncturists suspected of plying the illegal trade. Some of the businesses appeared to have living and eating quarters for the women, according to authorities.

The bust followed prostitution complaints by the public and several months of investigation by the Sheriff's Department and Vista officials.

"The city is determined to stop this," said Vista City Attorney Darold Pieper, adding that a spike in massage therapist permit applications helped spur the investigation.

"We don't want this here," added Vista sheriff's Capt. Tim Curran, calling investigator's efforts "aggressive."

Many of the 22 women arrested are Chinese citizens and some are in the country illegally, the captain said.

The women face misdemeanor charges for prostitution, illegal touching and various city health and safety violations stemming from the presence of living and eating quarters inside the businesses.

The following businesses were shut down: Touch of Asian Day Spa, Seren Acu-Care, Melrose Spa, Vista Town Spa, Bright Acupuncture, JW Acupuncture, Li Jun Acupuncture I, Li Jun Acupuncture II and Vista Health Center, sheriff's officials said.

In photos of the sting released by authorities, several women are shown with their hands restrained and heads down. One photo shows clothing strewn on a bed, a large plastic tub filled with blankets and what appears to be a family photograph framed and sitting at the front of the bed.

Authorities had not determined Wednesday whether some of the women owned or operated the establishments. Owners and operators could face charges of felony conspiracy to promote prostitution, officials said.

County prosecutors will determine whether to pursue additional charges.

So, what are they going to do? China will not take them back. Is DHS going to give them policy amnesty by giving them work permits or U Visas since their attorneys have advised them that they are really "victims" of sex crimes?

When you start making a bunch of Liberal exceptions is where the immigration process becomes a disaster and creates loopholes. That's the real reason it's "broken" because illegal aliens want to squeeze through the loopholes and work the system and they get mad when they get caught and fail. No illegal immigration should mean no.

I wish he'd apply that to Illegal Immigration in it's entirety. Just as most Americans would!
