Salisbury Mayor Susan Kluttz is among a group of co-chairmen of Democrats for McCrory, supporters of Pat McCrory in his bid for governor.

McCrory is the Charlotte mayor and Republican nominee for governor.

Co-chairmen of his committee along with Kluttz include former N.C. Rep. Ronnie Smith, Carrboro Mayor Mark Chilton and Clayton Mayor Jody McLeod.

"In working with Pat for over 10 years on regional and statewide issues, I have constantly been impressed with his leadership in bringing together leaders from both parties for the betterment of our communities," Kluttz said. "He was instrumental in organizing the mayors of the largest cities of North Carolina a decade ago, in what has become the North Carolina Metropolitan Coalition.

"This bipartisan group of mayors has become a strong voice for cities in statewide issues such as economic development, transportation, fighting crime, gang prevention, court funding and protecting the environment," Kluttz continued. "Pat understands these issues and that it is crucial for them to be adequately addressed if North Carolina is to be successful in the future."

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC has offered its endorsement to U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole for her support for border security and her opposition to legislation in 2006 and 2007 that most Americans considered to be amnesty for illegal aliens.

Dole has also received a career grade of "A" from BetterImmigration.com, which gives her high marks for opposing amnesties, supporting border security and interior immigration enforcement. Dole has also been highly active promoting the 287(g) program in North Carolina, which allows local police to determine if those they arrest are illegal aliens.

ALIPAC will be launching a statewide effort to remind voters of Dole's popular pro-enforcement positions on the illegal immigration issue, which ranks as an issue of top concern among N.C. voters. The group will also launch radio ads on several stations promoting Dole's record and reminding voters of Kay Hagan's inaction on this issue. The group will make a donation, encourage others to do the same, and may launch robotic calls to carry the message.

Bev Perdue, Democratic candidate for governor, will be at Rowan County Democratic Party Headquarters, 121 E. Innes St., on Oct. 28.

Also on hand will be Teresa Sue Bratton, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, and Bill Burnette, candidate for the N.C. Senate.

Bratton is challenging incumbent Howard Coble, while Burnette is challenging incumbent Andrew Brock.

Bratton and Burnette will be available to speak to voters at 2:30 p.m. Perdue will arrive at 3 p.m. Lorene Coates, seeking re-election to her seat in the N.C. House of Representatives, will make the introductions.

N.C. Rep. Bill Daughtridge, a Republican candidate for state treasurer, will visit Salisbury on Wednesday for a fundraiser.

The event, to be held at the Country Club of Salisbury, is by invitation only. Dyke Messinger, president and chief executive officer of Power Curbers, is hosting the luncheon.

What is strange about this is that McCrory has been a terrible Mayor in Charlotte, and really did nothing for the city and crime.

Perdue's ads say she is supported by law enforcement and mentions specifically she will crack down on illegal immigration... Strange talk from a democrat.

I am so torn over this election! Perdue and Easley have made this into a Sanctuary State, on the other hand McCrory made Charlotte into a Sanctuary City. Now BOTH are claiming to be against Illegal Immigration. I keep trying to read between the lines here, which one is just toeing the line for "electibility"? I honestly don't know...

I keep clicking on the link here for who is supported in my area (Johnston County), and there are no recommendations for my district for the House. I knew I would be voting for Elizabeth Dole, but as for the others???? I honestly don't know! I'm not too thrilled with Etheridge, but the other candidate I have never even heard of.

Mayor McCrory has had to do what NC permits. I would think his county sheriff uses the 287g Program and ICE. And the state has not mandated E-Verify by all employers on all employees. I think we should maybe give him a turn. We have seen what the Democrats are doing very little when it comes to immigration deportation. And workforce enforcement on immigration has been totally ignored. I still hear from all state offices that it is a federal problem, immigration is. Oh no it is a local, county, state, and federal problem.

I don't trust McCrory at all !!! He didn't do anything to stop illegal immigrants from swarming all over the City of Charlotte. He was a do nothing Mayor. And Perdue, is she the chicken plant Perdue? If so, that says enough, lol..
