A 34-year-old man is behind bars after police say he sexually abused a woman in broad daylight at a Provo yard sale.

The intoxicated man walked by a yard sale last week near 100 East and 500 North several times, said Provo Lt. J.D. Lougee.

"He basically thinks he is making friends with the young lady there, but she wants no involvement," Lougee said. "He eventually walked up behind her, grabbed her head and forced a drink down her throat."

Lougee said the man also allegedly fondled the woman, but she managed to get away and run inside her apartment.

The woman then grabbed a pistol. She said the man saw the weapon and fled.

But he showed up again one hour later -- after police had arrived to investigate.

The victim pointed out the man to police and told them he was the attacker.

Officers arrested the man on the scene Friday evening and booked him into the Utah County jail on suspicion of forcible sex abuse and public intoxication. He also has been placed on an immigration hold by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement while they determine whether he is in the country legally.
