Illegal alien charged with raping 2-year-old girl, assaulting victim's father

Massillon, OH – On Saturday, Juan Bautista, 25, was arrested after he was allegedly caught raping a 2-year-old girl in her home. The victim’s father was awoken by his daughter’s loud cries and ran into her room where he reportedly discovered the suspect sexually assaulting the toddler.

When the man pulled his daughter away from her attacker, Bautista ran to the kitchen and returned with a knife and stabbed the man, according to the police report.

Bautista then fled the scene and was quickly captured at his Ute Avenue residence.

The little girl was admitted to Akron Children’s Hospital and her father was taken to Affinity Medical Center where he was treated for stab wounds to his hand, ear and thigh and released.

Bautista has been charged with rape, felonious assault and gross sexual imposition. He is currently being held in the Stark County Jail on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

Bautista is in the country illegally from Guatemala, according to prosecutors.

CANTON —

An illegal immigrant has been indicted on charges alleging he attempted to sexually assault a 2-year-old girl and stabbed her father last month at their southeast Massillon home.

Juan Bautista, 25, a Guatemalan native who was living at 1614 Ute Ave. SE, is facing one count each of felonious assault and attempted gross sexual imposition. Bautista, who originally faced charges of rape, gross sexual imposition and felonious assault, remains jailed on $1 million bond.

Bautista could be deported by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency if he is released from jail.

If convicted, Bautista could face up to 13 years in prison and be required to register as a Tier II sex offender under the state’s sex offender law. The designation would require Bautista to register his address with authorities every 180 days for 25 years.

The attempted assault allegedly occurred at a home in the 1200 block of Arapahoe Ave. SE. The girl’s father reportedly was sleeping on a couch when he was awakened by his daughter’s screams. Bautista allegedly stabbed the man several times with a kitchen knife after he intervened and grabbed his daughter.

The father was treated and released at a local hospital for stab wounds to his thigh, hand and ear. The 2-year-old was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital to be examined.

Bautista apparently had been invited to the Arapahoe address and arrived while the girl’s father was sleeping. The attempted sexual assault reportedly was witnessed by another man who was visiting the house. Police arrested Bautista at the Ute Avenue home after officers reportedly found him hiding in a bedroom.
