Why do you hope I read it?

    Hello Rtbstrd:

I skimmed the article, but all it refers to is a concrete number of illegal immigrants that have been arrested/detained/deported. The article indicates that there MAY be less illegals in the Tulsa, but the following quote makes me question whether it has been effective, overall, to decrease the pure volume of illegals:

"I don't think there are as many illegals in town these days," Garner said. "I think that law chased a lot of people off," referring to House Bill 1804, a state immigration enforcement law enacted in 2007.

Therefore, many illegals may have just moved to another town. This article is an example of why complete deportation is difficult, in fact most likely impossible: Americans differ from city to city, town to town, in whether they would like to deport all illegal immigrants. If it isn't a countrywide effort(it isn't at the moment) then complete deportation becomes troublesome.

Hello Lstudent, I was hoping you'd read this one before I made the point that "attrition" will work. We need not deport all IAs, all we need do (as you mentioned) is get more communities nationwide to pass and enforce similar laws.

I'd also like to point out that "if" such laws caused racial profiling, as so many OBLers contend, the numbers should have gone up and not down.

I Thank You for your response.

The last I had heard a year ago, there had only been one case filed under 1804. Doesn't matter how many laws they pass, if they don't enforce them they don't do a whole lot of good....

HR 1804 has without a doubt cleared a very high percentage of illegals from Oklahoma.
Where I live(so, of OKC) no illegals have been seen working in Wal-mart, fast food industry,Landscaping, construction or any businesses.

If there are any illigals still here in Oklahoma, their in hidding.

When i first moved here from SoCal in 2007, Tulsa considered itself as a sanctuary city.

I want to thank all of you Texans for offering the illegals a big open arm invitation. .. You guy are really sweet.
Maybe Oklahoma can do something for you someday.
