....and by the way. I'm also a consertive Republican who feels like a fish out of water here in my own home state. Most other CA residents can't stand people with views like mine and thats exactly why illegals are taking over the state.

EX_OC, all of us from Idaho need to copy and send this article to our legislatures and Gov. Otter. Every state could pass a law to let local law enforcement enforce the laws in their state, it is a constitutional right for states to protect them selves from invasion if the feds refuse to do it.

Thanks for the welcome. My Dad used to live in Vista and he moved to Idaho about 2 years ago. His reasons were: the mexicans, too much traffic, cost of living etc....in that order. Idaho was the new "white flight" state at that time. Funny thing is, he moved to a town called Nampa and they have the highest hispanic population per capita than any other town in ID....even more than Boise. He talks about moving back here because he misses everyone and I tell him it hasn't got any better, just worse.

I grew up in Vista, and it's always had a high hispanic population, but with the illegals there-it's probably about 70%. So sad....it used to be a nice town and I was happy growing up there.
Omg, SicNTired, Nampa is the city next to mine, but in Idaho "next to" is like miles and miles away, thank God. Before we moved to Idaho, we researched the different cities and we saw the high concentratin of Hispanics in Nampa so we scratched that out. It pays to research first. Nampa is always in the news with crime! Wonder why? LOL. So is this other city called Caldwell, which is in the county next to our county. High Hispanic/crime city.

Your dad can always relocate. There are many beautiful cities in Idaho. You should join us when you can. We need more people like you! CA is a lost cause.

SoSad, that is an excellent idea! It is easy to get their physical addresses off the Net.

I reread the article and think these paragraphs are sufficient to send to them:

Oklahoma's Governor Brad Henry has signed a sweeping immigration Reform bill: House Bill 1804, that its sponsor believes will go a long way in dealing with the illegal alien problem in the state.

House Bill 1804 was passed by overwhelming majorities in both the House and Senate of the Oklahoma Legislature. The measure's sponsor, State Representative Randy Terrill, says the bill has four main topical areas: it deals with identity theft; it terminates public assistance benefits to illegal; it empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws; and it punishes employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.

Oklahoma is no longer "O.K." for illegal aliens, Terrill observes. "When you put everything together in context," he contends, "the bottom line is illegal aliens will not come here if there are no jobs waiting for them, they will not stay here if there is no government subsidy, and they certainly won't stay here if they know that if they ever encounter our state and local law enforcement officers, they will be physically detained until they're deported. And that's exactly what House Bill 1804 does."

The Oklahoma legislator is pleased the bill he sponsored into law was signed by Governor Henry and believes it will go a long way to curb t he illegal immigration problem in the state. "I would remind people that states are separate sovereigns in our federal system," Terrill points out. "Anyone who doesn't understand that needs to go back and take an American federal government class in college," he says.

What do you think? We can insert it as a quote (I don't want to look like a plagerizer!) with a short introduction from us. Do you think a hardcopy letter will be better than emailing?

I also got a hardcopy letter from House Rep. Mike Simpson, a reply to my phone call to his office regarding Birthrigth Citizenship. He is AGAINST IT TOO!! Yippeeeeee! Go Idaho Go!!

EX_OC, that sounds great I think you should send it by e-mail and a hard copy and I will send the below exert with a short letter of my own and the 14 points as to why it would benefit us to enforce the laws...one thing about Idaho they do not like spending taxpayer money on illegals.

"I would remind people that states are separate sovereigns in our federal system," Terrill points out. "Anyone who doesn't understand that needs to go back and take an American federal government class in college," he says.

As a result of that sovereignty, the Oklahoma lawmaker insists, "We have as much right - in fact, I would argue, a responsibility - to protect our tax payers against that sort of egregious waste, fraud and abuse as the federal government should have a responsibility to protect that international border, but doesn't do that."
    List of 14 points!
    What do you think??

I am going to put all of this in my documents and work on it as soon as we finish with the Dream Act this week! Does that sound good!!
    Great news about Simpson!

SoSad, what happened to Simpson? I must confess, I haven't been following that story. I just don't seem to have any interest in the details of his life!

I was commenting on your report of simpson and Birthright citizenship!!

Are you talking about Craig? He is in DC and he is trying to get his plea over turned. All I can say is he better still leave office, I think Otter will appoint Riech in his place which is way better than Craig. And his seat is open in 2008, I am hopeing Vasquez runs, he is totally against illegal immigration and totally out spoken about it

Good for Oklahoma! But I am sure the ACLU are just around the corner to block anything they are trying to do, and tie it up in court for months .
