A Rogers man who is a convicted sex offender has been charged in federal court with being a previously deported alien.

Felipe Sanchez-Delgado, 29, is charged in U. S. District Court in Fayetteville of being an aggravated felon, according to a police news release.

He was arrested by the Immigration Apprehension Task Force, which consists of police in Washington and Benton counties and U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The task force formed in September to investigate illegal aliens committing serious crimes.

The task force learned Sanchez-Delgado was a previously deported alien after Rogers police arrested him Oct. 7 on a drunken-driven charge.

Court documents state Sanchez-Delgado was deported to Mexico in 2006 and was convicted of a child sex crime in North Carolina in 1997.

He was being held without bond on Thursday, documents state.
