PHOENIX (AP) - A woman was arrested on an assault charge Saturday at an immigration protest in front of a Phoenix furniture store that has become a weekly fixture.

Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Andy Hill says the woman approached another woman and pulled on a microphone cord she was holding, then pushed her in the chest. Police on the scene took Kristina Yeo into custody on a misdemeanor assault charge.

The other woman wasn't injured. The 20-year-old Yeo, who is pregnant, was released with a citation.

The Saturday protests in front of the Pruitt's store in east Phoenix have led to numerous arrests in recent months.

Advocates for immigration reform began picketing when the store owner asked Sheriff Joe Arpaio to crack down on day laborers in the area. That drew counter-protests from opponents of illegal immigration.
