LOUISVILLE, KY (WDRB Fox 41) –

Authorities continue to look for a killer after a man is fatally shot in broad daylight. Police say he was shot by someone he may have had an ongoing dispute with.

Members of Louisville's African community began arriving at this Park Hill Housing complex immediately after the early afternoon shooting. They were mourning the loss of one of their own.

"He has no money, no problems with anybody. He was also one of the leaders of the church. We don't know why this happened, these things happened to him," said Jean Marie Kagabu.

Kagabu says the victim was in his early 30's, and a native of the small African nation of Burundi. He says the man leaves behind three children.

Police were surprised by the timing of the shooting; 1:30 in the afternoon, in the middle of a crowded housing complex, and apparently while the victim was moving out of his apartment.

"Obviously there was a homicide that took place, and we're very concerned about finding the individual. Again, we're talking to anyone and everyone we can talk to at this point that can lead us to the individual," said LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.

While many were visibly upset, some members of the African immigrant community were not entirely shocked by the shooting. They say this man is the latest victim of the violence that has become all-too-common in this neighborhood. "This is not the first case, this is not the second case, this is not the third, please. It's become like dogs, they crash in the street, and no follow-up, no nothing. We never hear anything," said one man.

Police say they do have a person of interest they are trying to track down.
