Charges May Result in Deportation for Immigrant

KALAMAZOO - Police say a man suspected of indecent exposure not only faces criminal prosecution but could be booted out of the country.

He allegedly exposed himself to a teenage girl back on March 24th near Maple and Crosstown. She gave a good description of the man and his van to police. He had been seen in the area several times since.

The officers spotted him, and discovered Rockefeller Martinez was driving without a license.

The 33-year-old implicated himself in the crime during police interviews. Now immigration has put a hold on him for a deportation hearing.

Sounds like an illegal alien, not an immigrant.

Hard to tell by this Bowman.

If an immigrant is convicted of a certain crimes, including sexual offenses, their citizenship will be revoked and they will be deported back to their country of birth.

Yes but normally immigration does not put a hold on legal immigrants, because they have a valid SSN and are a lot easier to find.

True, because they would be processed through the crimial and court system like any other American. The federal law states that they can only be deported after receiving a guilty conviction. At some point during this legal process, DHS would be alerted and when they have served their time in state prison and ready for release is when they will be transfered to Federal custody and deported. Suprisingly, Pres. Clinton signed that into law.
