Fred Sainz, a spokesman for San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, said identification wasn't required to enter shelters. And if people living in remote migrant camps were not told to evacuate, he said, it wasn't part of any calculated effort to hurt migrants.
The mayor, he said, has always looked out for the needs of the migrant community and has tried to protect them from encounters with Minutemen and other groups that oppose illegal immigration.
"The mayor has bent over backward to protect the migrant population," said Sainz.

There is an article circulating through email that Hispanic separtatists have laid claim to starting the California fires.
Does anyone know if this is true?

Welcome Elmjcil.
It is not. It is a bogus story crafted to mimic the look and feel of CNN's website.
It also is defamatory or slanderous in that it attributes exact quotes to persons that had never said such things. It appears to have been crafted only to stir strong responses - from which group of persons seems to be unclear at this point. Clearly, the person/people that made and initially distributed this story will receive a strong rebuke from CNN (and/or their lawyers). Because of the above, we are not including the text here.

THEY ARE NOT MIGRANTS, THEY ARE ILLEGALS! If this was the mayor of my town I sure as heck would be looking into getting rid of him... the quicker the better!

I USED to love to come to California, (I work with race horses), after my last visit to Mexifornia I swore NEVER AGAIN! All of you Government types have alllowed your beautiful State to become a third world garbage pit, just like the one all those illegals left. And then you wonder why your State is in debt? YOU opted to become sanctuary cities... don't look any farther than your own backyard for "help". You asked for this now you deal with it. Don't whine for Federal Tax dollars you so graciously hand out to illegals!
I feel SO much better...LOL!

Thanks for the welcome and the info, Phred. When I read that I was ready to believe it. I hope it taught me a lesson. Thinking about it, I think the open border people would benefit by planting such a story. It could then be used to discredit us each time we report, print or email a fact to others. I hope they track the source down and rectify it.[/b]

I can't believe they wouldn't have asked for ID to enter the shelter. For all anyone would know, they were letting America's Most Wanted AX murder in to sleep next to you and nobody was doing anything to stop it. This kind of set-up should always involve ID.
