This is so ridiculous. I’m beginning to believe there is a delusion inducing organism in the water in Mexico that lies dormant until the border is crossed into the US. These people are so out of touch with reality it’s actually sad.

If you are in this country illegally, you should feel uncomfortable; you’re breaking the law. Should a bank robber feel comfortable as he/she exits the bank with a bag of loot? This is as ludicrous as a burglar intentionally waiting for a homeowner to return, expecting to be treated to dinner and a movie; then whining "racism" when the police are called.

California has been angry for years. As one of the first states to feel the effects of illegal immigration. They are NOT the scapegoats for all of our problems. They are, in a large part, THE PROBLEM. You can't argue with statistics. My major problem is the criminal element, but other problems arise when you import millions of impoverished, uneducated people in a short span of time. They are a drain on the community. They start having babies at young ages instead of educating themselves in order to get ahead. This is sheer stupidity and when the average citizen sees this on a day to day basis he becomes VERY angry.

Have read Pew studies before and didn't know who or what Pew was.

    How bias can they be?

This is one of their studies dated 2003:

    Remittance Senders And Receivers
    Tracking The Transnational Channels
    by Roberto Suro

    Report Materials
    Complete Report

    Recommended Publications
Across the United States some six million immigrants from Latin America now send money to their families back home on a regular basis. The number of senders and the sums they dispatched grew even when the U.S. economy slowed, and looking to the future, the growth seems likely to continue and potentially to accelerate. The total remittance flow from the United States to Latin America and the Caribbean could come close to $30 billion this year, making it by far the largest single remittance channel in the world. These funds now reach large portions of the populations in the region--18 percent of all adults in Mexico and 28 percent in El Salvador are remittance receivers--and the impact is no longer limited to the countryside or to the poor. Taken altogether these indicators suggest that the remittance traffic in the Western Hemisphere has crossed a threshold not only in magnitude but also in significance.

6 million people regularly send money home (it doesn't state total number who send money home)--may reach $30 billion this year. Know what that amounts to per person--where is that kind of money coming from?

    This is Pew
    The Pew Charitable Trusts
The Pew Charitable Trusts is an independent nonprofit and the sole beneficiary of seven individual charitable funds established between 1948 and 1979 by two sons and two daughters of Sun Oil Company founder Joseph N. Pew and his wife, Mary Anderson Pew.

The Pew Charitable Trusts serves the public interest by providing information, advancing policy solutions and supporting civic life. Based in Philadelphia, with an office in Washington, D.C., the Trusts will invest $177 million in fiscal year 2005 to provide organizations and citizens with fact-based research and practical solutions for challenging issues.

Informing the Public: Most of the Trusts' information work is carried out through The Pew Research Center, a subsidiary of The Pew Charitable Trusts. The Pew Research Center informs the public, the press and policy-makers about important issues and trends. It is non-partisan and does not engage in advocacy. The Center includes these projects:

The Pew Hispanic Center is a non-partisan research organization supported by The Pew Charitable Trusts since 2001. Its mission is to improve understanding of the U.S. Hispanic population and to chronicle Latinos' growing impact on the entire nation. Timeliness, relevance and scientific rigor characterize the Center's work. The Center does not advocate for or take positions on policy issues. The object of the center's surveys and data analysis is to inform policy discussions about the nation's most rapidly growing population. Major reports include studies on remittances that Latino immigrants send annually to their families in their native countries; an examination of the high attrition rate among Latino college students; and a first-of-its-kind series of surveys done with the Kaiser Family Foundation on the demographic, financial, health care, educational and political characteristics of Latino populations in the United States.

Keep writing this whining drivel.....there's still a few people who aren't totally angered yet!

I get IDed when purchasing the occasional 6-pack, and being 61, I always tell the clerk how glad I am to show it. Any American citizen should be proud to able to SHOW their ID for whatever reason. I don't believe there is racial profiling as much as there is "perp" profiling. If you were looking for illegal aliens, your first choice would be whom......????

The laws, while aimed at freezing out undocumented immigrants, are heating up the rancor toward Latinos in general. We are being made the culprit and cause of whatever afflicts our country.

Let me make this paragraph a little bit more accurate than it is, You are being made the culprit because of the very simple reason that you are the culprit.
