Otay Mesa, Calif. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Otay Mesa port of entry apprehended a fugitive Monday. The 26-year-old U.S. Citizen, wanted by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department for homicide and considered armed and dangerous, is now in custody.

Angel Alberto Santana had two outstanding warrants, for homicide and flight to avoid prosecution, issued in February of this year.

At approximately 11:20 a.m. on June 15, Santana attempted to enter the United States as a passenger in a vehicle. CBP officers checked his information against law enforcement databases and discovered the warrants and armed and dangerous warning. Officers responded, safely taking Santana into custody.

Santana is currently in custody at the San Diego County Jail pending extradition to Nevada.
