Legislation to crack down on Indiana businesses employing illegal immigrants had its first hearing in the State House Public Policy Committee last week.

The bill is co-authored by State Senator John Waterman of Shelburn.

It’s aimed at cracking down on businesses or individuals who harbor, transport or employ illegals.

State Representative Bruce Borders says he supports the bill.

He says, “Until that point and time that they become a citizen our tax dollars should not be going to support people who did not go the route to proper citizenship. Nor would I expect that courtesy to going to Americans going to another country.â€
