RALEIGH, N.C. — Two Republican hopefuls for governor have released platforms on economic development and illegal immigration.

Salisbury attorney Bill Graham released a proposal Tuesday for dealing with illegal immigrants. He said the state has a reputation as being a haven for those immigrants.

The program includes more enforcement of rules barring illegal immigrants from obtaining driver's licenses and help more sheriff's departments enforce federal immigration law. He also would seek legislation requiring government documents to be in English only.

Former Supreme Court Justice Bob Orr also released a plan that would spend up to $20 billion by 2020 on investments in small business, public school education and training more doctors and nurses. The money would come from ending targeted business incentives that Orr says have not succeeded in North Carolina.
