He said, "things change real fast here", oh yea, Congressman Hayes, real fast. In fact the day after the next election, Americans from all over the country hope that North Carolinians will change the name on your door "REAL FAST".
Start Packin, Congressman, there's no place like home!!

Was it Nancy Pilosi who used the phrase, "let's make a deal"?
I guess that's what goes on during those lengthy, 1 hour votes, where the party leaders threaten and bribe until they've got the slim margin to pull the bill through.
It seems that Hayes only votes against the "free trade" ideology when it doesn't count. In addition to the CAFTA vote, he voted to give the Prez "fast track authority" in 2001, which passed by only 215 to 214.

Yet, he did vote against the Singapore FTA, but that passed by a wide margin and so his vote wasn't as important then.
Still, Hayes does have a good record against illegal immigration and the work visas too. I still think he's somewhere around the top 20% best members of the House. But his vote on CAFTA is dissappointing.
He seems to have gotten promises with regard to China or something on textiles. But there's more to these FTA's than just the textiles in his district. It affects his district in other ways and affect the whole country too, which also will have indirect effects on the district."We have it in our power to begin the world over again." Neither one deserves to be in public office. CAFTA will open the doors for more immigration. They say they are opposed to illegal immigration but the borders are wide open. They are elected every two years. They have had 2 1/2 terms to do something about illegal immigration since 9/11 to protect our borders and have done nothing. They need to be replaced come 2006

HAYES IS the President's GO TO GUY!!
The two votes that mattered, the one giving the President authority to negotiate this CRAP and CAFTA that transfers power to the World Trade Organization were HAYES both times.
He is the President's MAN.
