TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Border Patrol agents assigned to the Nogales Station picked up an illegal alien Thursday who admitted he was a Sureno 13 gang member. He is being held by authorities "pending prosecution," according to a media release from the Border Patrol Tucson Sector.

On Wednesday, agents from the Nogales Station rescued two children after seeing them "pushed through" the international boundary fence, the release states. The agents contacted the Mexican Consulate after taking the children to the Border Patrol's Nogales Station.

In Ajo on Wednesday, agents rescued four people who triggered a rescue beacon in the desert near Ajo. They were held for processing. Twenty rescue beacons are located in the remote desert in the Tucson Sector so that individuals who are "abandoned and in distress" can seek help from the Border Patrol.

Agents also picked up an illegal alien Wednesday in the Ajo area. They found he had been convicted of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under age 14. The individual was held for prosecution.
