    Our View:
    Stop Arlen Specter's Amnesty

    Posted Mar 06, 2006

"It's going to be an extraordinary debate filled with fear and guilt and racism and xenophobia," said a former U.S. senator, as he attempted a blanket assassination of the characters of all those who simply want to secure our borders, enforce our immigration laws and do so without granting amnesty to immigration lawbreakers.

You might expect words like these to come from the mouth of a Democratic demagogue. But they didn’t. They came from the mouth of a flaky Republican.

    Expensive Guests

They were attributed in the Philadelphia Inquirer last week to former Sen. Alan Simpson of Wyoming, whose most memorable act as a lawmaker was to sponsor the first illegal immigration amnesty, which passed Congress in 1986 amid promises from its supporters, including many conservatives, that it would once-and-for-all solve the problem of illegal immigration.

Last week, Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter (R.-Pa.) introduced a 21st Century version of Simpson's amnesty plan. Conservatives must not be fooled again.

The key element in Specter’s 305-page bill is that it would convert illegal aliens already in the United States into legal "temporary" workers, without making them first return home. The immigration-law-breaking aliens granted Specter's amnesty would be allowed to stay in the U.S. for six years. At the same time, Specter's proposal would allow new, additional "temporary" workers to enter the United States, bringing their families with them.

Specter's bill puts in legislative form the basic elements of the "guest-worker" plan proposed by President Bush during his first term, and then repeated in the President's latest budget request, which calls for allowing "employers to hire legal foreign workers when no American is willing to take the job."

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R.-Tenn.) has indicated he wants to bring up immigration reform by March 27, which means the greatest display of March madness this year may not be on the hardwood floors that host the NCAA basketball tournament but on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

There are many objections to a guest-worker/amnesty plan, and they have nothing to do with racism and xenophobia.

For starters, a plan that converts illegal aliens into legal temporary workers rewards lawbreakers with a prize of great value: the right to legally live and work in the world's greatest nation. Not only is it wrong to reward an immigration lawbreaker this way, it is unjust to aliens who are trying to immigrate to the U.S. and have chosen to respect and abide by our law.

Secondly, a guest-worker/amnesty program is also unjust to U.S. citizens on the bottom rungs of the earnings ladder because it forces them to compete for jobs and wages with foreign nationals who will be allowed to come here only if they agree to work for lower wages than an American.

Thirdly, a guest-worker/amnesty program is double-barreled corporate welfare. It lets corporations import foreign laborers into the U.S. and pay them wages they could not hire an American worker for, while forcing American taxpayers to pick up the tab for the public services these low-wage foreign workers will consume. Taxpayers will not only subsidize the cost of "guest-worker" health care, but also pay the cost of educating "guest-worker" children. Indeed, these could end up being very expensive “guests” from taxpayers' perspective.

Most importantly, a guest worker/amnesty program would exacerbate our greatest immigration problem, which is really a national security problem. In the midst of a war against terrorists, our government has failed to stem the massive, unmonitored flow of unknown persons crossing our borders. When foreign nationals now pondering illegally entering the U.S. learn that illegal aliens who went before them were granted legal status by an all-Republican government that prides itself on upholding the rule of law and putting national security above all other federal duties, it will provide a powerful new incentive for those aliens to come.

Sen. Simpson’s amnesty helped lead to the illegal immigration problem we have now. A Specter-Bush amnesty would lead to greater problems tomorrow.

The Republican House has passed an immigration reform bill that does not include a guest-worker/amnesty program, but does include tough new provisions for enforcing the immigration law on corporate scofflaws who hire illegal aliens. It also would build 700 miles of double-fencing along vulnerable stretches of the Mexican border to help Border Patrol agents defend our homeland.

That House bill deserves conservative support. What the Senate is beginning to contemplate does not. If you want to put an end to the March madness there, call your senators today at (202) 224-3121 and tell them: No amnesty, period. Just pass the House bill.

He is right about the racist part. Any amnesty discriminates based on national origin, it is racist.

I suppose the guilty part applied to rich mush-headed liberals.

    Richard Burr, lockstep Bushbot

I had the unfortunate revelation through a letter sent by Republican NC Senator Richard Burr's office, that Burr supports the stupid and illegal Bush-Chertoff amnesty plan renamed a "guest worker" program and its ridiculous premise that lawbreaking illegal aliens and their scumbag employers who already laugh at federal immigration laws will suddenly flock to sign up for a temporary worker program that relies 100% on voluntary compliance in order to work. This requires an alien to honor a promise to return to Mexico or parts thereof at the end of a few years of US residence thus abandoning their homes, their jobs, and their property to return to their home countries; then wait a year or so, and then re-apply to return to the US and go through this all over again.

The fact that the Bush administration has the gall, disrespect, and stupidity to attempt to foist that preposterous nonsensical crap off on the hard working, law abiding taxpayers that are already buckling under the weight of 20-30 million illegal aliens and all the crime, cost, and choas that includes while offering not one damned single proposal that stops wide open vulnerable borders and continued massive illegal immigration or punishes employers who hire and shield them qualifies those greedy, stupid sons of bitches for impeachment and removal for gross imcompetence, dereliction of duty, and treason.

Richard Burr, senator of the state that is has the fastest growing population of ILLEGAL aliens, chooses not to make efforts to oppose these stupid plans and join with genuine conservatives offering real solutions to this debacle, but rather chooses to insert his head up Bush's ass and walk in lockstep with the traitors, sell-outs, and illegal alien labor lobby who have already bought, sold, and bribed greedy and corrupt political gutter maggots in Washington in the House and Senate. Burr was selected to replace the greedy and corrupt liberal John Edwards, who incidently supports the Bush amnesty plan repackaged as a guest worker program.

In short, North Carolina voters, despite frequent and overwhelming objection to illegal immigration and amnesty proposals have been spit on, ignored, and lied to and now have another two-bit lying liberal fraud, only this one has a different party label. No wonder conservatives want to sit out the next election. My first clue that Burr was an illegal immigrant advocate and illegal labor prostitute was his earlier letter to me outlining his rejection of Republican Congressman James Sensenbrenner's Real ID Act or any provision therein. This would have addressed the real and serious problem of illegal aliens obtaining NC driver's licenses as a gateway to obtaining quasi-legality and the ability to VOTE in local, state, and national elections.

For this treachery and betrayal, Burr has signed his own political pink slip as he is history come his next election, regardless of what he does from this point on. Deliberate failure to secure the national borders especially during wartime and continuing to allow open borders and uncontrolled illegal immigration is the act of either a fool or a madman or both, neither of which should ever be in a position of making decisions for a nation. much less a dogcatching crew.

I got the same letter from Burr. He says he's against amnesty, but then goes on to describe a guest worker program that is amnesty. I'm one conservative that will not sit out the next election. I will vote and I will vote against all Republicans if an amnesty bill passes.

Burr's phony two-faced weasel word reply

Wav Tek, I know. Burr's staff spent a long time crafting this weasel word pile of wandering crap. He must think his constituency is as stupid as he is, but he forgets we see it and live with it every damned day and know the score far better than his Pinehurst golf course elite buddies like Lindsey Graham who love their illegal alien caddies.

Update today: March 22, 2006 around 4:00 pm, just phoned Burr's office. Relayed angry dissatisfaction with his staff over Burr's weasel letter and his rep told me to leave my name and address again so Burr could "clarify" his position on this matter to me. What an insult and a joke. I am more aware of the situation than Burr or his staff will ever be, and know a BS job when I smell it. No sale, Burr is history.

Watch,as one man,"Superman Arlen Specter" alone, knocks 10s of millions of Americans to their knees, all by himself.
The sad part about that is;American just stands there while he does it.
Another great display of how much Americans love "Freedom". In reality it`s just another show of how Americans have no backbone and are too lazy to do anything about it.Americans just cower like the omega`s they are. I think that if Washington said that Americans will have to come to washington and eat some 'Mexican Dog Crap, they would.Today`s
Americans are just a shell of what Americans were when America was America.
I think we should post all of the addresses and phone numbers of all of those that vote in favor of "Amnesty".It`s time those people feel the impact of this "Invasion".I say we should "Burst The Bubble (s)and make sure that our so called leaders come in contact with the Mexicans that they so warmly welcome. These people, like specter, most likley, have never come face to face with an Illegal Mexican.
Let`s make sure that the Illegals" know where specter lives and hangs around just so the Illegals can stop by now and then and tell specter just how much they love him. BURST THOSE BUBBLES...I SAY..BURST,BURST,BURST.

Well it's true that many American's won't fight back for their country in this pr?oblem......too many video games to play?

Our kid's, are they aware their futures are at stake? Are they aware how many jobs we have lost to outsourcing and illegals taking the rest?

Are they aware that many will not be able to get into college, because some rich foreigner will be in line ahead of them?
Do not vote for Party this year, vote for America and American workers!
