Mexico Objects Execution Date of Illegal Alien 15 yrs after

    Dave Gibson
    Immigration Reform Examiner

Illegal alien's execution date set 15 years after his conviction...Mexico objects

On Thursday, Texas State District Judge Maria Teresa Herr set a July 7, 2011 execution date for Humberto Leal Jr., 37. The Mexican national was convicted of the 1994 rape and murder of 16-year-old Adria Sauceda.

Leal raped the girl in a field in San Antonio, before bashing her head in with a rock.

During Leal’s 1995 trial, defense attorneys actually claimed that the teenager had caused her own death by falling and hitting her head on a rock, after she attacked Leal. The jury was not moved by his story and deliberated for less than an hour before finding him guilty.

In addition to his criminal defense team, an attorney representing the Mexican Consulate stood with Leal at Thursday’s proceeding.

Mexico does not have the death penalty and opposes its use in all cases. In fact, they have a standing policy not to extradite criminals to the U.S., without an assurance that prosecutors will not seek the death penalty.

Leal is one of 51 Mexican nationals currently sitting on death rows throughout the U.S.

In 2008, President George W. Bush infuriated dozens of victims’ families by placing a hold on all 51 executions and ordering reviews of their cases, after the International Court of Justice at The Hague complained that the men had not been given proper opportunity to seek advice from their respective Mexican Consulate offices.

The Supreme Court later overturned Bush’s order. Since that time, one of the Mexican nationals was executed in Texas.

Mexico's answer to overpopulation, kill em' or send them to the U.S. The value of life in these 3rd world countries is very puzzling to me. And the women suffer any and all kinds of abuses. If he was never allowed in this country she'd still be alive. Screw the Mexican consulate! This is the U.S.A.!!!

Senior Leal should have been shot immediately after his conviction and the bill for the bullet sent to the Mexican government. Justice delayed is justice denied.

Mexico also dosent want their criminals deported back to mexico! The way I see it this guy came to the U.S. and in an american court he was sentenced to death to pay for his crime and in the U.S. we find this punishment acceptable. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time!

So as per the world court , is this person under our "jurisdiction" or that of mexico?

They are claiming he did not have proper consulate services?

So illegals are not really under our jurisdiction

That would also imply that every anchor baby is not a citizen because their parents are not under our jurisdiction?

    Can't have it both ways

Id say our durastiction because he's in our country. If I was in china legal or not and I broke the law I would expect to be punished in their form of punishment even it if ment death. This guy has been a burden enough to the tax payers in texas I'm sure he's apealed the origanal decision like everyother death row convict and now its time to pay! His actions might be accepted more in mexico but that's his bad for coming over here and thinking he can get away with a crime like that.
