PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Marion County Sheriff's Office have seized 1,649 marijuana plants from a private forestland.

Officials say they have been investigating the outdoor operation for weeks.

The lumber company that owns the property says it was unaware of the illicit operation and has cooperated with detectives in attempting to identify suspects and get the plants removed.

If the plants from this particular location been allowed to mature and be harvested the yielded would have been worth over $2 million dollars.

Detectives suspect the operation is a Mexican drug trafficking organization.
