Government figures show ICE arrested illegal immigrants responsible for over 1,500 murder convictions in 2019

Illegal immigrants arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the United States for 2019 included individuals responsible for more than 1,500 homicide convictions.

In total, illegal immigrants in ICE custody were connected to 1,549 homicides, according to figures published in a report by the Department of Homeland Securityís inspector general.

The number is down from figures collected in 2018, when ICE identified illegal immigrants responsible for 1,641 murder convictions.

In 2017, which was the first year ICE publicly published the numbers, the agency arrested illegal immigrants responsible for 1,531 murders, bringing the total over the last three years to 4,721.

The report lists criminal convictions of many other crimes other than murder, including drug offenses, sexual assault, larceny, and kidnapping.

The most common conviction listed in the report was drunk driving. ICE arrested 49,106 illegal immigrants with DUI convictions.

Collectively, illegal immigrants arrested by ICE were charged with or convicted on a total of 489,063 criminal offenses.

A study released in 2019 by the Federation for American Immigration Reform concluded that illegal immigrants are incarcerated at as much as five times the rate of legal residents.

Whether or not to crack down on illegal immigration has been a common question in the Democratic primary race for the presidential nomination. Both Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden promised to reverse President Trumpís firm stance on enforcing immigration laws.

Biden promised this week that if heís elected president, he wonít deport a single illegal immigrant for 100 days and assured illegal immigrants in his Super Tuesday victory speech that he would provide them a path to citizenship.

Sanders has echoed Bidenís lax approach and said during the first one-on-one debate with Biden that he is in favor of eliminating ICE raids and hindering the agency's ability to apprehend illegal immigrants.

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.
