The bills should be sent directly to the Consulates of Ecuador, Guatemala and Mexico...enough is enough...if they are encouraging and assisting their foreign nationals who are here illegally...they should be paying the unreimbursed expenses like these.

I wonder if they would be so quick to write off treatment if the patient had been an American Citizen? I suspect they would pursue payment without any considerations to financial or economic hardship an American Citizen would have to endure if her were made to pay.

    Illegals Medical

I have often wondered why the illegals are never billed for services. Is it because they do not speak English and can not fill out the admission forms? Can't the translators ask for proof of address. They do when I go for medical needs.
Even when I had a child without insurance coverage, I was required to pay "up front" for hospital bills. I had to go to county health clinic for prenatal care and was told I could just go to ER in labor and they can not refuse treatment. They still ask for name, address, phone number, who will pay the bill......
What would happen if all Americans started using hospitals like the uninsured and illegal aliens do? Maybe we should all give false info., so we can't be tracked later.
There has to be a solution, but our incompetent government is more interested in steroid use in baseball and investigating Halloween parties.

I go to UMC because my OB/GYN is there (and every time there are tons of pregnant women who only speak Spanish in the waiting room - the average wait time to see the dr is an hour after the appt should have started) and when I went outside after the appt a van from Border Patrol was unloading a BP agent and an illegal he was bringing into the hospital. The illegal had his wrist bandaged, but was walking on his own, and didn't appear to be dying. They entered through the main doors, not the emergency room. My question is, for anyone who works in a hospital or especially in an emergency room, why are illegals being treated for non life-threatening medical situations? I thought by law they were only supposed to be treated for something that could cause death, and then only stabilized, not entitled to the same treatment as Americans. Does anyone know what the "rights" of illegals really are when it comes to medical care they don't have to pay for? (I'm sure a lot can pay, but because they don't usually pay taxes the hospitals have no way of knowing their financial situation, so they qualify for free care). If this guy could walk, and wasn't in the emergency room, why would they even treat him? Shouldn't the hospital just refer him to a regular doctor, so the doctor can then demand payment or refuse treatment?

I am training my 24-yr-old uninsured daughter to say she is an illegal immigrant if ever she has an emergency. LOL. I told her to tell the hospital she does not have a SS# and to give a fake name. If this is the only way we can be equal with illegals, THEN SO BE IT. This is what it has come down to, folks, IMO. If our govt doesn't think anything of giving free emergency care to illegals, then they should feel the same way about its citizens.
