PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A car wash company has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy for what prosecutors call a plot to defraud the government and harbor illegal immigrants.

Horsham, Pa.-based Car Care Inc. entered the plea Tuesday. The company operated car washes in Norristown, Flourtown, Bryn Mawr and Cherry Hill, N.J.

Federal prosecutors say for several years, Car Care managers gave illegal workers false names. Prosecutors say they gave banks a list of people authorized to cash checks without identification as long as they wore shirts with the company logo.

Car Care was ordered to pay a fine of $100,000 and to forfeit $500,000 to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Several managers await sentencing.
