Illegal immigrants apprehended on I-99

TYRONE – Nine illegal immigrants from Mexico and El Salvador were apprehended Monday afternoon on I-99 in Snyder Township.

State police said they stopped three vehicles in reference to an alleged retail theft in Freedom Township, Blair County.

Numerous occupants were in the three vehicles and most could not provide valid

U.S. identification or travel documents.

The nine were lodged in the Cambria County Prison pending further investigation by immigration officials and deportation proceedings, police said.
