Victims The Washington Post Cares Nothing For
Victims The Washington Post Cares Nothing For

A company employs an illegal alien who then kills two people in South Richmond in an automobile accident using a company vehicle. In addition to criminal charges against the illegal alien, the estate of the victims have filed a lawsuit against the company that was unlawfully employing the illegal alien. Hopefully stories like this will help discourage employers from flouting our laws in order to make a buck when the costs of doing so can potentially run into the millions of dollars.
From the Times-Dispatch:
An illegal immigrant charged with killing two people in a South Richmond car crash now faces a $2.3 million wrongful-death suit filed by the family of one of the victims.
The administrators of the estate of Kathryn L. Jones, who was fatally injured in the May 24 wreck, also has named as a defendant the construction company for which Carmen Alejandro Garcia-Hernandez was employed.
Garcia-Hernandez was driving a pickup truck registered to R.J. Biringer Construction Co. Inc., whose owner, Ronald J. Biringer, is under federal indictment for transporting illegal immigrants.
Richmond police allege that Garcia-Hernandez was driving the truck when it ran off Snead Road and hit a parked car that spun around and fatally injured two people standing next to it, Jones, 44, and Joseph Owens, 40, of Alberta in Brunswick County.
After the crash, police said Garcia-Hernandez, 28, tried to flee the scene on foot, but witnesses detained him until officers arrived. He was indicted June 9 on two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run driving.
According to the lawsuit, Garcia-Hernandez had a blood-alcohol level of 0.15, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08.
As of July 1st, a new law requires that all jails in Virginia start checking the immigration status of all persons they detain. How many localities are actually complying with this law isn’t known, but no locality in Virginia seems to be talking about how they intend to comply with this law, much less announcing that they are. If they actually do, chances are that habitual offenders as I suspect Mr. Garcia-Hernandez would be if he’s following the familiar pattern of illegal alien behavior we see so often would be getting caught and deported prior to killing more Virginia residents in alcohol-fueled fatal accidents. Instead it’s the families of the victims that are struggling to ensure that those who facilitate unlawful behavior are held to account.
Yet the Washington Post would rather report on dead victims rather than see anything done about rampant lawbreaking. The family of the late Kathryn Jones is left to try to pick up the pieces and obtain justice on their own (and at their own expense) in the meantime. While the Post goes into overtime to defend those who break the law, the victims are left to fight for justice, alone.
Disgusting.

Victims
There also appears to be a cover up taking place. The owner of the company who owned the truck reported it stolen the day AFTER the crash.
Business as usual.
