Officials hope arrests lead to widespread change

This week’s roundup of suspected illegal immigrants in Weld County (Greeley CO.) could have far-reaching consequences for law enforcement and national policy on illegal immigration.

It remains to be seen just what those changes will entail, but Weld law enforcement officials hope their efforts this week will give law enforcement officials all over the country the gumption to make similar arrests.

Add a new Congress that may be more willing to fix the United States’ immigration problem — since it’s not an election year — and this week’s roundup could give lawmakers the platform they need to break the immigration reform stalemate.

Or they could just continue to ignore it.

Sen. Wayne Allard, who tried to get his colleagues in Congress to pass legislation that would have closed the information gap between governmental agencies when it comes to illegal immigration, said the problem is widespread and that identity thefts like the ones in Weld are probably happening all over the country.

Protect the Citizens of the United States from preditory illegal aliens.

That's your representative's job!

Their duty is not to make illegal aliens citizens.

Appearently these people aren't smart enough to see people on TV or read about people who did the same thing that they did getting hauled off to jail and pack up and move and change their name again to avoid the same fate. Just goes to show how smart they are.
