Paterson man sentenced for raping young girl

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey man who raped a young girl has been sentenced to eight years in state prison.The Record reported that Celvin Carranza, 24, of Paterson must also register as a sex offender under the sentence imposed late last week. He also faces deportation to his native El Salvador once he is freed from prison.

Carranza had pleaded guilty earlier this year to aggravated sexual assault on a 7-year-old girl in August 2011. Authorities have described Carranza as a friend of the victim's family, but have not disclosed further details.
