THE UNDOCUMENTED Irish in the United States were discussed at Shannon airport last night when the Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea TD met former US Republican presidential candidate senator John McCain.

After the meeting, Mr O'Dea said: "We met for about 40 minutes and it was very productive and cordial. Senator McCain has committed to raising the issue of the undocumented Irish with president-elect Obama on his return to the US."

Mr McCain's aircraft made a refuelling stop at Shannon on his way back to the US after spending the past week on a regional tour with two other members of the senate armed services committee, senators Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham.

Mr O'Dea was deputising for Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin who is on official business in Brussels.

Mr Martin has already committed to seeking a visa agreement with the US authorities for the "undocumented" Irish in the US. He stated last month that "finding a solution for our undocumented citizens is a key priority."

Arrangements for last night's meeting were finalised last Friday but were not publicised for security reasons.

The men also discussed the establishment of the new US customs pre-clearance facility which was agreed between the Irish and US governments last month and which will open in Shannon next year. The facility will speed up the process of entry into the US.

What the hell is a Senator from Arizona doing in Ireland discussing US policy as it relates to Federal immigration issues!!! Isn't that the job of Secretary of State! Is there anyone this guy has not committed/promised to giving amnesty!!

Maybe Senator McCain, Senators Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham should stop by the local unemployment lines in they're home district to talk this over with they're unemployed constituents .. you know the fat lazy middle class that just don't seem to want to work.... Let me explain something to you America. These corrupt individuals just took a little trip on your dime ... well, a whole slew of dimes all throughout Europe.... only to stop off and promise citizenship to Illegal Aliens (Irish in this instance) while this country is undoubtedly in a depression style atmosphere here in in the Corrupted (By politicians and Bankers) US of America

I am sick... absolutely sick of free wheeling politicians that work for everyone, from every country but the good ole American citizens that not pay them to do our political bidding that they just will not do, but "We the People" pick up the tab for all of the Bull biscuits they do and we have to put up with the damage to America they create

second, let me say that McCain hasnt been in his office in well over a year except for a few occasions and missed all kind of votes while campaigning as only a Faux Republican Conservative can ... So whats he doing in Europe

Third.. I have serious doubts about these 2 other air biscuits agenda; senators Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham are neck deep in this Neo Conservative movement and are as corrupt as humanly possible without being convicted... I guess birds of a feather, flock together.

As Well, McCain needs to take his crooked, morally broke backside and retire so a decent American citizen can fill his corrupt Senate Seat.

fourth.... as far as senators Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham .... Lieberman is borderline megalomaniac as far as wanting to start WW III ... but Graham is about as lying and as crooked as they come .. so what are these Jack-o-lopes upto .. certainly not to be the three amigos on the tax payers dime visiting ole political friends in the EU

Put these 3 together and something serious is up and more than likely they are up to no good at least as far as America go's

McCain, Lieberman and Graham galavant all over the world on their amnesty tour, while millions of Americans are losing their jobs and standing in the unemployment line!

These so called "leaders" act as if they have been anointed to power, and not by the American people who actually voted them into office!

Guess he did not have enough paid time off the last 2 years, and then he takes the other two worthless pieces of crap with him to hold his hand, maybe they are helping him lick his wounds, the Loser !! Our elected officials are really out of touch and out of hand!

Good point SOS! We have bailouts going on left and right and mccain is no where to be found! Funny, during his presidential campaign he found it necessary to hurry back to Washington to lend his self described "leadership" to bailout talks.

I guess that was all political grandstanding on his part, which was obvious anyway! Don't know who these guys think their fooling!

Isnt that typical. McCain, Liberman and Graham stopped in Ireland to discuss OUR immigration policies but the discussion wont be published because its a secret. Who are these 3 stooges working for anyway?
