MILFORD — On the heels of Saturday’s tragic fatal accident, state Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, wrote to Gov. Deval L. Patrick asking what his administration will do about unlicensed drivers, and for Mr. Patrick to reconsider his position against a federal program that would prioritize the deportation of illegal immigrants with criminal pasts.

On Saturday, Nicholas Gauman, 34, of Milford, and a native of Ecuador, allegedly was driving drunk when he struck and killed 23-year-old motorcyclist Matthew Denice, dragging him a quarter of a mile. Mr. Gauman was ordered held on $100,000 cash bail, is being investigated by federal immigration officials, and was held on a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
