A Queens man has been sentenced to five years and eight months in prison for assaulting an officer at the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia with a radio and his fists, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Seymour Ellis, 43, a Jamaican native, had been convicted of assaulting a federal officer.

Ellis was in immigration custody awaiting removal from the U.S. to Jamaica. He was stripped of his permanent resident status because of his narcotics trafficking, robbery and theft convictions.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by Officers of the Enforcement and Removal Operations of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
