Perot Vindicated As NAFTA Causes Mass Outsourcing of Jobs
    Written by Kelly Holt

During his 1992 presidential campaign, Texan Ross Perot was maligned for his warning that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) would cause many American jobs to be outsourced. But it turns out he was right about that “giant sucking sound.â€

There is free trade and fair trade seems we have neither. Mr Perot was correct on a number of things on Nafta and his apparent dislike of John McCain. Certainly he and I agreed on that.

Yes Perot was right as well as many others who knew NAFTA and free trade would be a disaster. A lot people still get confused about protectionism versus free trade. I hope in the coming months, these distortions are cleared up. Free trade is not free. It bankrupts the wealthier country. Protectionism guards against that while still allowing for tremendous volumes of international trade that benefit our country as well as the other nation.

Quote(In 2010 (most recent annual statistics), the U.S. trade deficit with China was $252 billion. This was down slightly from the record of $268 billion set in 2008, the largest in the world between any two countries. The deficit means that the U.S. exported $82 billion in goods and services to China (double its 2005 exports), while it imported over $334 billion (second only to 2006 levels). Simply no way the middle class can survive with his type of trade deficit, and the above is one country only. The problem is those at the top of the feed chain in America are making huge sums from this type of "free Trade" and that is the reason it continues, greed will kill capitalism and bring in socialism/communism which can be seen currently via our unions and youth because the socialist/communist society appears better to them. Hope and Change, yep, the old socialist line certainly is a winner.

I liked Perot, quirks and all! Even voted for him. He was wiser than most people thought.

NAFTA and GATT have destroyed this countries ability to create manufacturing jobs.

I voted for Perot also. I was only in my 20's back then and NOT politically saavy at ALL. Even a naive kid like me could see the writing on the wall. Meanwhile, I had to endure a bunch of older women telling me how "handsome" Bill Clinton was. Made me want to hurl. Just like when I heard it a few years ago about how "cool" Obama was with that cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

Since we have so many American Idol fans the only way to have an honest election on merits would be interviews and debates only via radio, won't hold my breath waiting for that.

China uses a combination of currency controls, tariffs, and support for "infant industries" - including demands for technology transfer as a condition for establishing businesses or, as Boeing learned, as a condition for selling in that country. No reason why we can't do the same - except for the fact that 'Bama is a no nothing who can't read unemployment numbers.
