Both Governor Rick Perry and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani call transnational gangs a torrist threat.

Governor Rick Perry and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani spoke Tuesday at a campaign stop at the Austin Police Department headquarters.

The pair focused on the issues of border security and gangs.

Both called trans-national gangs a terrorist threat.

''The reality is that a border that can be crossed at will is a border across which you can carry drugs, you can carry weapons, you can carry other means and methods for both crimes and for terrorist attacks,'' Giuliani said.

APD's Assistant Chief, David Carter, said aggressive enforcement is half the battle against gangs.

He said community outreach is also necessary.
