Perry plummets in Florida as Cain surges; Texas governor lags behind Obama

Gov. Rick Perry fell to fourth place while Herman Cain jumped to second in a poll of likely Floridian voters.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has seen two-thirds of his support in Florida evaporate after two halting debate performances in the Sunshine State and a weak second place finish in a highly publicized straw poll.

The Republican War Room poll, which was taken on Sept. 30, puts Perry in fourth place in Florida with 9.1 percent support. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads with 28.2 percent support, up slightly from last month, followed by former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain at 23.7 percent and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich vaulting ahead of Perry to 9.8 percent.

This is a 15 percentage point drop for Perry since War Room’s last poll, taken ten days earlier. He polled second in Florida last month, and Cain came in sixth with only 4.9 percent support.

But the Florida poll reveals a weakness in the GOP field when set in a match against President Barack Obama. All of the Republicans trail Obama, and the Democratic incumbents holds holds double-digit leads over every candidate but Romney.

A Rasmussen poll released today echoes those results–Perry trails Obama nationally by six percentage points. The poll of likely voters gives Obama 43 percent of the vote to Perry’s 37 percent. That six-point lead hasn’t changed since last week’s Rasmussen poll on the same matchup. Neither candidate has received much favorable coverage in the past seven days.

    Friends of ALIPAC,

Please scan your local news and the web looking for more Rick Perry campaign stops that we can add to our protest schedule.

Our first protest in Charlotte, NC on Sept. 29 was a huge success and generated a great deal of media warning voters about Rick Perry's support for Dream Act Amnesty for illegal aliens which forces you to pay most of the tuition for illegal aliens in Texas!
