Petition To Stop Illegal Immigrants From Driving On The Roads

KANONA – Dave Ahrens says New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is wrong to let illegal immigrants get driver's licenses. Ahrens is helping Assemblyman Jim Bacalles from the Southern Tier to collect signatures for a petition.

The petition is asking the governor to reconsider his decision to allow illegal aliens to drive on the roads. Ahrens says the governor's policy is irresponsible. He doesn't believe we'll be safer if illegal immigrants can get licenses, even though the governor argues this is the best way to monitor them. Spitzer defends his plan and says it will keep illegal immigrants from using fake identities. He also says unlicensed drivers are five times as likely to get into a fatal crash.


Ahrens says the word ‘illegal’ means that people should not be in the country in the first place.
