Juan Hernandez gives dumb advice; McCain takes it

Whose idea was it to send John McCain down to Mexico the day before Independence Day and have him grovel for Latino votes south of the border by visiting the Basilica de Guadalupe–a famed Catholic shrine featuring the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which most Mexican politicians consider off-limits for campaigning?

According to Frentes Politicos (hat tip - reader Edgar M.), the stunt was the brainchild of none other than McCain’s open-borders Hispanic outreach director and former Mexican cabinet official Juan Hernandez, who apparently survived the big campaign staff shake-up:

Dentro del equipo de campaña refieren que el consejero supo referir cuán afortunada en simpatÃ*a mexicana resulta una visita a la BasÃ*lica de Guadalupe, dada la centenaria cultura popular de equiparar “estadunidenseâ€

This constant pandering makes me sick. I wonder how much more of this we'll have to endure before the election?

Only a Mexican advisor in a U.S. presidental campaign would think about doing something that STUPID. It shows what a fool McCain is too.

John McCain does not deserve our vote and I hope nobody is fooled by his "secure the border first" rhetoric. This man still refuses to accept that we Americans want our borders secured period with NO more amnesties.

And as far as the tired argument I keep hearing that "Obama is worse," both candidates are bad but IMO it will probably be easier to defeat bad legislation (e.g. amnesty) coming from Obama than McCain.

If I didn't know better (and maybe I don't), it looks like McCain was sabotaged. What a colossal MORON! Maybe Hernandez is secretly working for Obama too?

You took the words right out of my mouth, Miguelina! Hernandez has to be a plant! Didn't he work for Huckabee at one time? He must be Mexico's greatest weapon of mass destruction!

I just can't believe McCain did what he did! He needs to be sent out to pasture!
