(CBS) To show they're making headway against the hyper-violent drug cartels, soldiers in Tijuana trumpeted their latest big arrest: Stew Man - a cartel lieutenant who confessed to disposing of 300 bodies by dissolving them in vats of acid, CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker reports.

But there's even more evidence the cartels are operating with near impunity as they wage bloody battle for control of lucrative smuggling routes into the U.S. It's only 28 days into the new year and already there have been 400 drug-related slayings across Mexico.

Last year ended with a grisly flourish: 12 soldiers were found decapitated with this note: "For every one of us you kill, we'll kill 10."

"These criminal kingpins are not afraid of government authority," said Rand Corp. terror expert Brian Jenkins. "They're willing to take it on directly.â€

Seal the border and let the mexican government take care of their own self-made mess. Put our military on the border to make sure no one gets in. Deport all illegal mexican nationals that are found so they can fight for their country and make it a better place.

The last thing mexico needs is more of our money. Let them spend their own.

What ? The war is here and now , The MSN wont report how many Americans have been murdered , assaulted , injured , raped , or who lives have been ruined by the Drugs that come accross the Southern Border here in the U.S.A
By illegals from down south . They Dont tell the truth .
We are Fighting a War , Here and now .
When will our Elected pea brains join the fight ? And start protecting the citizens of this Country from the invaders of our Souvergn land .

Pledge of hardware, means our millitary. I'm not willing to send our military(our sons) into Mexico to fight the war they created with corruption.

That will be the next cry for help, that and flooding us with "refugees".

Casteneda also has other concerns. “I'm very scared about threats and danger to American interests in Mexico."

It's not American interests, it's NAFTA interests that will need protection.

100% agree. But, sorry miguelina, that won't happen. It makes far too much sense and it's counter-productive to the globalist goal; the NAU.

It is really important to have this information on the evening news on a nationwide network.
