    Tuesday, 10,000 state employees were notified they’ll be out of work come July as a result of state lawmakers’ egregious spending and inability to craft an amenable budget. Additionally, 400 public works projects have been stopped putting another 92,000 workers out of work.

    Budget negotiations have stalled in the Senate over $14.4 billion in proposed tax hikes that would temporarily raise the sales tax by one percentage point, increase the gasoline tax by 12 cents a gallon, and add a surcharge of up to 5% to the personal income tax for up to five years.
